Kano State House of Assembly has passed 12 key bills and over 217 resolutions in the past 18 months. Speaker of the House, Hon. Ismail Falgore, announced the achievement on Friday following Governor Abba Yusuf’s presentation of the proposed 2025 budget for approval.

Among the new laws passed, prominent bills include the Kano State Free-Marital Health Screening Bill 2024, the Kano State Public Health Security Bill 2024, the Kano State Centre for Disease Control Bill 2024, and the Kano State Pension and Gratuity (Amendment No.5) Bill 2024. Additional legislation includes the Kano State House of Assembly Service Commission (Amendment No. 2) Bill 2024 and the Kano State Judiciary Fund Management (Amendment) Bill 2024. Other notable bills passed are the Kano State Emirate Council Repeal and Enactment Bill, the Kano State Second Class Emirs Bill, and the Kano State Supplementary Appropriation/Amendment Bill 2024.

Hon. Falgore highlighted that the Assembly’s 217 resolutions addressed a broad range of critical issues impacting the public, including infrastructure, education, water supply, and healthcare, all aimed at enhancing the quality of life for Kano residents.

Additionally, Hon. Falgore acknowledged the Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee for clearing an eight-year backlog of audited state accounts and an 11-year backlog for local government accounts. This substantial clearance is seen as a crucial step toward restoring transparency, rebuilding public trust, and reinforcing effective governance in Kano State.
