Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has announced the approval of a N1 billion contract for the comprehensive rehabilitation of Argungu General Hospital in Argungu Local Government Area.

The governor made this known on Tuesday during the flag-off ceremony for the construction of a 1km road in Argungu town.

“I have awarded the general rehabilitation of Argungu General Hospital at a total cost of N1 billion. Out of this amount, N500 million will go into the complete renovation of the hospital, while another N500 million will be used to procure modern medical equipment,” he said.

Governor Idris reiterated his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare facilities across the state, stressing that his government is determined to protect lives and improve the quality of life for the people.

“We want all our general hospitals to be equipped with modern facilities so that our people can access quality healthcare,” he said.

The governor also commended the National Organizing Secretary of the All-Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad-Argungu, for facilitating the construction of the 1km Jarman Kabi Road in Shagari Quarters. He called on other political leaders in the state to emulate Muhammad-Argungu by championing projects that have a direct impact on the people.

While addressing the gathering, Governor Idris expressed gratitude to the people of Argungu Emirate for their unwavering support and assured them that over 80 percent of his campaign promises to the Emirate Council had been fulfilled.

On his part, Muhammad-Argungu thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Atiku Bagudu, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, for supporting development projects in Kebbi State. He also applauded Governor Idris for his achievements, including the establishment of schools in underserved communities and the renovation of the Emir’s palace, which he described as one of the finest in the Fulani emirates.

The Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu-Mera, commended the governor for his foresight and commitment to the development of Argungu. He highlighted the establishment of an Agricultural Processing Zone, which he said would transform Kebbi into an agricultural powerhouse not just in Northern Nigeria but across the country. The emir also revealed that over 500 hectares of land had been cleared for the project, with compensation already being paid to landowners.

Governor Idris’ administration continues to deliver on its promises, earning widespread commendation for its focus on impactful development initiatives.
