The Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (JISEMA) has provided relief materials to families affected by the recent tanker explosion in Majia, Taura Local Government Area. The distribution, held on Saturday in Majia town, offered essential items to ease the hardships faced by the affected families.
The relief items included 25kg bags of rice, 25kg bags of millet, cartons of spaghetti, Maggi cubes, seasonings, detergents, soap, semolina, gallons of vegetable oil, and 110 rubber mats. Dr. Mairiga Haruna Mairiga, JISEMA’s Executive Secretary, noted that these materials were provided through a collaborative effort involving the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), and JISEMA.
Speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Dr. Mairiga explained that the supplies were distributed to the families of 210 individuals affected by the tragic explosion. Beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to both the federal and state governments and acknowledged the support they received from individuals and organizations since the incident in early October.
Mr. Muhammad Habibu, whose family lost a member in the explosion, said the assistance was timely, especially after losing a crucial family provider. Another beneficiary, Mr. Auwal Abdullahi, whose son remains hospitalized at Rashid Shekoni Hospital in Dutse, shared that the relief items would help ease the financial burden his family has faced since the tragedy.
The families thanked JISEMA for the assistance and prayed for guidance and continued support for Governor Umar Namadi’s administration, expressing hope for sustained care for victims in the state.
